President Vladimir Putin appears to have used the last three years to given time to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, His Ukrainian Counterpart, described as a puppet of the North American country of the United States, US and the European Union Leaders to make a deal with him or lose the entire Ukraine but he had remained hesitant to do so.
Zelenskyy had expected that the US President, Donald Trump, would take advantage of the Alaska Summit with Trump, described as Lion of Eastern Europe to secure a ceasefire in the over three- year-old Ukrainian -Russian war to heave a sigh of relief that Russian Forces would no longer advance to occupy mor regions in the country but handover the already occupied five regions to him but got it wrong.
At present Russian troops have taken over the five regions in Ukraine which includes Sevastopol, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaprozhia and are advancing to take over more regions. Putin had expected Zelenskyy, who takes orders from the Western Leaders like Presidents Emmanuel Macron of the France, Sergio Mattarella, Italy, Alexander Stubb, Finland, Karol Nawrocki, Poland, Friderich Merz, German Chancellor and Keir Starmer, British Prime Mister to read the handwriting on the wall that the battle is as good as having been lost and quickly concede the already regions to Russia instead of continuing the war in different fronts.
Based on what Putin may have told the US President at the Elmond dot Ricard military base meeting room in Alaska on Friday, August 15, 2025, that if Zelenskyy delays in making a deal with Russia, he would lose the entire Ukraine may have informed why he had advised him to act fast.
Zelenskyy have no option but to consider the option as he fears losing out the entire country as his fighting troops are no longer finding it funny due to dearth of weapons even as the EU, Leaders are getting fed up in supplying more weapons to the country because of pressing internal economic challenges that requires urgent attention. It would be recalled that Trump, who is determined to end the Ukraine -Russian war, had suspended the shipment of military weapons and funding Patriots batteries and receptors to Ukraine on assumption of office, described as a big blow to Zelenskyy and a setback to the EU, leaders and Mark Rutte, the EU, Secretary General.
Rutte, the EU, Secretary General, may have known that Ukraine had lost the war with Russia, at a meeting with the US President when he told him categorically that the US Government has agreed to send additional Patriot systems and receptor missiles worth billions of dollars that would Kyiv a chance to expand protection and to defend itself against Russian ballistic and cruise missiles to be funded by Germany and other Zelenskyy allies. Trump may have agreed to supply more Patriot systems to Ukraine as information had filtered out that it has only six function Patriot batteries which was not enough to stand the Russian drones and cruise missiles that comes in circles.
President Trump’s worry is that ‘’ the Russian drones are killing a tremendous number of people in Ukraine’’ stressing that even if one hides behind the tree and the drones comes in circles just as streets are being knocked down like the ocean Duffy just as the airports are getting the system because former President Joe Biden did do anything for the four years he was in office.
the Alaska Summit between Trump and Putin that was supposed to have lasted six hours to ensure that a deal was struck was said to have only lasted two hours as there was disagreement between the duo, meaning no deal, which was said to resulted in the cancellation of the ‘’elaborate Lunch earlier arranged with a working lunch’’.
President Trump appears to have known that Ukraine is losing out in the war with Russia he has proposed another Summit that would involve him, Putin and Zelenskyy excluding the European Leaders on August 22, 2025.
The Russian President had hinted that the next stage of US-Russian talks would definitely bring a deal on the use of strategic offensive weapons by the parties. Zelenskyy may have known that there is danger ahead for him and his country that he has concluded arrangement to jet out to Washington DC, on Monday, August 18, 2025, to have a closed-door meeting with Trump who may likely give him a matching order to concede all the territories already occupied by Russia in order to forestall losing more regions in the ongoing war.
As a prelude to receiving Zelensky who urgently ‘’needed a lasting peace’’ in the While House, President Trump was said to have returned to Washing DC, the US capital and Seat of Power from Alaska on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a meeting with his Russian with his Russian Counterpart on August 15, 2025, but failed to secure an agreement for a ceasefire with the Russian Leader who could not shift ground on annexing all the Ukrainian regions currently being occupies.
Trump may have given Zelensky the VISA to come for the Monday talks as a follow up to the meeting to the Alaska unfinished talks as he and Putin, the Russian Leader have decided to work toward a ‘’Peace Agreement’’ to finally end the Russian-Ukraine war and not just a ‘’secure ceasefire’’.
Zelensky was said to have earlier expressed skepticism about Putin’s willingness to work toward peace, but became hopeful when the US, who had had earlier met with Trump told him that’’ there was no cause for alarm’’.
Zelensky and his European allies concern was that if Russian which had rebuffs numerous calls for a ceasefire and has not yet determined to stop the killing and strikes in Ukraine, that it may a lot of effort by Trump to get Putin to have the will ‘’to implement far greater -peaceful coexistence with its neighbours for decades.
In the upcoming meeting planned by Trump, to be attended by both Putin and Zelenskyy to secure a lasting peace between Russia Ukraine and other eastern Europe neighbours, the Nordic -Baltic eight countries comprising of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithunia, Norway and Sweden, would want to be included in the next talks with Russia as it has to do with issues concerning them. Zelenskyy was said to have welcome the principled statement of the eight Nordic-Baltic countries, insisting that ‘’ unity of all strengths each other’’.
To forestall a repeat of the Alaska incident where the Ukrainia citizens based in US and their sympathizers had embarked on protest carrying placards bearing with different inscriptions ostensibly to register their anger against Putin stepping his foot on American soil and giving red carpet treatment by Trump may have encouraged Patrick Morrisey, governor of Virginia to deploy National Guard Mobilization from the state and an additional over 300 troops to Washington. the Virginia National Guard Mobilization and the Troops were said to have been given ‘’specialized training on handling specialized equipment as part of the shared commitment ‘’to a strong and secure America’’.
Even governors of South Carolina and Ohio, were said to have also concluded arrangement to deploy National Guard Troops to Washington at the Pentagon’s request ‘’to aid with President Trump’s efforts in scaling military presence in the capital city to forestall a breakdown of Law and order.
