As part of its creativity, the United Bank for
Africa ,UBA, plc,a pan African Bank,, through its Corporate Social
Responsibility arm, the UBA Foundation, has launched an initiative to feed the
less privileged across the African Continent this festive season.
The Value News cited Wizkid, the UBA,, Brand Ambassador, handing over food items and other goodies to the less and under privileged at the Food Bank organised by the Foundation at its established Garden and Roundabout at Marina, Lagos, last Friday. The feat, according to Bank sources , were said to have been repeated in other locations in Nigeria and other African countries, where the pan African , was said to have established its presence.
The UBA Foundation Food Bank, the source, disclosed is an annual event that aims to give back to society during the yuletide season as thousands of indigent were said to be beneficiaries of the community service freely offered by the bank simultaneously across the African continent.
Eyewitness account disclosed that rom Senegal, Ghana, Côte D’Ivoire, to the Central African country of Cameroon, and many of UBAs subsidiaries, the focus of the food bank was to feed the poor and homeless. And destituteThe UBA Brand Ambassador, Wizkid,was said to have done everything possible to make the event a huge success, as he was said to have contributed his time and energy to ensure that the poor and the destitute who were at the Lagos Foundation Garden were blessed as they received food items and other goodies.
The UBA Brand Ambassador, who could not hide his feelings declared: I am excited to be part of this initiative aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the needy in the society, stressing ‘’this is one of my passions as he is fully aligned with the pan African Bank .
Given an insider information about the Food Bank initiative, Kennedy Uzoka, the , the Bank Managing Director explained that the’’ initiative was one of the ways that the bank, through its foundation appreciates and supports the communities in which it operates’’, adding that’ it will be a continuous event’’.
Uzoka who, incidentally the chairman of UBA Foundation, had said that ‘’giving back is one of its key tenets’’, noting that over the years, the Bank has engaged in various activities aimed at appreciating the host communities all around Africa, particular, in countries where’’ it operate’’.

Those who were said to have lined up to collect their food packs and toiletries, at the Foundation Garden and Roundabout in Marina, looked happy that someone remembered them as could be seen in their faces.

One of the beneficiaries who simply gave his name as Abdul said, “I am very happy with what you people are doing. This morning I didn’t even know what I was going to eat. I am really surprised. You people have done very well, we didn’t expect this at all. In fact, when my people came to call me, I didn’t believe it until I got here. I am here with my three children. This was very unexpected, and we are very happy,” he said excitedly.
Recall, that UBA staff members were on ground at the Foundation Garden, to volunteer their time and services, while a few donated food items to give back to the society in the spirit of the yuletide season.
