Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of police and Head of the Intelligence Response Team,IRT, of the Force, recent remarks that those waiting in the wings to see him been forced out of the Service by the Police Authorities because of his role in the activities of Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, popular, Hushpuppi, a suspected International fraudster would be disappointed.
He has hsi reason. This is because of his outstanding records in his last two decades of service as a crime buster which is there for everyone to see he had boasted. He may have to do a rehink on the direction of the case as it may not likely go in his favour, meaning that he may be sacked because of the gravity of the offence which may see as a bad advertisement for the Force considering the strategic position he occupies in the Force which exposes him to secret information about the Force plot to deal with Criminals.
He should be licking his wounds.This is because, Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector General of Police , IGP, has alrady forwarded the recommendation of the four –man Police Special Investigation Panel, SIP, Headed by Joseph Egbunike, a Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, overseeing the Force, Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, to the Police Service Commission, PSC, under the Chairmanship of Musiliu, a former IGP, for approval.
The IGP, may have forwarded the SIP recommendation to the Leadership of the Force to the Commission to ensure that the embattled DCP, would not have any ground to protest the Commission to upturn the decision of the Force to suspend him. The Commission have thrown its weight behind the F Leadership as it has approved the recommendation of the Force SIP, suspending the Borno state state born DCP as a prelude to his sack if the SIP, finally indict him .
Given the seriousness of the CAScase may have informed why the PSC, which had received the SIP recommendations suspending DCP Kyari and Head of the Force IRT, from Baba, the IGP,. The Commission did not hesitate in taking immediate action by rubber stamping the sip recommendations .
Clara Bata Ogunbiyi, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court and a member of the Commission was said to have conveyed to the embattled Kyari, the decision of the Commission approving his suspension by the Leadership of the Force based on the recommendation of the SIP, on Sunday, August 1, 2021.This may have dampened his enthusiasm to still be in the in service as he least expected to get such a memo from the PSC Because of his outstanding records in the service in the last two decades which is there for everyone to see.
DCP Kyari Suspnsion from the Force, according to Justice Ogunbiyi, took effect from Saturday, July 31, 2021, meaning that he can be done away with at a time and his position occupied by another officer. As a prelude to taking a final decision on the DCP, who has played into the hands of the Force Leadership, the Commission was said to have directed Police boss to furnish it with information on further development on the Kyari and Hushpuppi matter for ‘’necessary action’’.
Kyari, the Head of the Force IRT, who sees himself as a tin god because of the strategic position he occupies which exposes him to cybercrime fraudsters and other categories of Criminals in the society may have gotten himself into trouble because of the FBI, report tendered in a Central District of the North American country of the United States last week that he had arrested and tried to jail one Chibuzo Vincent, a close friend and cyber crime fraudster ally of Hushpuppi at the behest of the later over a disagreement and plot to fleece a Qatari businessman of 1.1 million.
Vincent was said to have threatened to expose the deal to the Qatar businessman, attempting to finance the construction of a school for children in Qatar which Hushpuppi, may not have found this funny as he had to use Kyari, his contact in the Force to get back at him by framing him up of threatening to attack his family in Nigeria and putting a call to DCP Kyari, his close friend to arrest and jail him. The Police IRT , Head, had confirmed that Hushpuppi call at their office to help out in his and arrest his estranged enemy was about two years ago.
He had confirmed in his social media page that the International fraudster sent N300,000.00, which he claimed was to be used to buy some native Clothes and Caps , which he saw and like on his social media page. He had said that the N300,000.00 was paid into the clothes sellers account and not his own account which many have found difficult to believe. Recall that he had told the US Court that nobody demanded any money from Hushpuppi, described his close friend, to carry out the arrest of the said Vincent with the intention to jail him . But the US Court , based the FBI, findings had uncovered that the Nigerian senior police offer provided thirdparty account to receive the payment for Vincent arrest.
He may have shot himself on the leg when he said the five set of clothes and caps were sent to his office and he sent someone to receive it, meaning that they have a long standing relationship, when he should have arrested him as a known fraudster to save himself from trouble. Faroq Kperogi, an indigene of Borno state had said that embattled super Cop is so rich that he is currently building a mansion on Jemina road, Damboa, one of the fllash point areas , in the state.
here is no gain saying the fact that Nigerians are watching to see the action that would be taken by the PSC IN dealing with the Kyari saga. Muiz Banire, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, who could not hide his feelings had said that the senior police Cop ‘’involvement in the case of International fraud was a dent on the image of Nigeria’’. An aggrieved Muiz, had made his views known while appearing on Channels Television popular programme ‘’Sunday Poliics’’.
Kingsly Moghalu, a former Deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and Presidential Candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, in the 2019, general elections had said that the government must must follow due process in dealing with the Kyari case. He insists that President Muhammadu Buhari, a retired Army General, must not disrespect international law in black and white when it comes to certain Nigerians. He maintains that that if the Nigerian security Operatives could arrest Nnamdi Kanu, the acclaimed Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, could be arrested in the South African country of Kenya, currently in the custody of the Department of State Security, DSS, Custody and being tried in Nigerian Court , including the arrest of Sunday Adeyeo, popular, Sunday Igboho, who is at the forefront of the Oduduwa Republic , in the neighbouring country of Republic of benin, there is no basis why Kyari, should not be made to face the Law, for dealing with Hushpuppi, an International fraudsters.
