Participants At  Imasayi –Yewa  Town Hall Meeting, Pledges Peaceful Elections, And Agreed To Shun Violence

The people of  Yewa North Local Government Area , of Ogun, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, home state,  has called  on the Presidential Candidates, of the 18 , political parties, jostling to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari,  after the February 25, 2023, Presidential and National Assembly  election and their followers , to  conduct  their political activities  in a peaceful and purposeful manner in the LGA.

Participants at Imasayi-Yewa Town Hall meeting , chaired by  the Paramount Ruler of the Community, Oba Lukman Adelekan Adeleke,  Oba, was said to have called  on the Youths  in the land ‘’ to avoid all forms  of violence  and work  together  for the progress  and development of the ancient town of  Imasayi-Yewa.  The c meeting   was said to have been attended  by Youths,  market men and women ,  house wives, students , teachers,  Christian and Muslim  religious Leaders, Leaders of traditional worshippers, Baales and Chiefs, and Political Party  Chieftains  as well as other stakeholders.

 The resource persons at the meeting were said to have been drawn from various   Professional Associations and the Academia.  Among the resource persons were Abdul  Jabar Ayelaagbe,  Chairman, Ogun state National Youth Council, , Representative of Yewa People Development Council, Yewa North Chapter,  LOGOCHAP Elder  Adeogun Isreal, Associate  Prof. Oluranti  Samuel of Department  of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Lagos  state University , Ojo, and Bode Akoode , a Community Relations officer  with Dangote Industries, Ibese plant.

The participants at the Yewa   townhal meeting were said to have commended  the patrotic  zeal  of the Olu of  Imasayi-Yewa  Kingdom  and agreed  that the turnout  at the massive  meeting  was a reflection of the Pramount Ruler’s  sound educational  and excellent social exposure  that will  continue ‘’to sustain  relative peace  and safety of lives  and properties in Imasayi-Ywwa  before, during and after  the Presidential and N ational Asembly elections on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

The participants at the meeting were said to have come to the conclusion that the peace being enjoyed   in Imasayi Yewa and its environs now will be sustained after the elections because of the fatherly role of the Oba.  They may have sent a message to the people that any person that that wants to start trouble or involve in any form of political or criminal activities after the elections and his preferred Candidate lost, that such a person will be hand over to the police for prosecution.

The participants at the Yewa meeting were said to have made the people to understand   that ‘’political thuggery and hooliganism are old and faded fashion of politics which will not be condoned in Inasayi  Yewa and its environs.

 They noted that given that there is life after elections irrespective of political affiliations,   political followers should not resort to violence,that may result in destruction of properties in the Community if their party Candidates lose the elections.  Only recently Oba  Kuoye  had marked his first  anniversary , in office, drawing diaries from far and wide  into the ancient town  Imasayi-Yelwa .
