Kennedy Uzoka, the United Bank of Africa, UBA plc, popular, Pan African Bank, Group Managing Director, appears to have created an enabling environment for the ex-staff, to still see themselves as member big family.
On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, both the serving and ex-staff of the Bank had gathered at the Lagos Corporate Headquarters to Launch the ‘’UBA Alummni Network’’. The ‘’Bankers’’ as they are popularly called in Financial circles, may have taken advantage of the Financial Institution superior digital technology to Launch the Alumni Network for easy reach to guarantee improved Cordial relationship.
Given the importance attached to the Launching of the Alumni Network, described as the first of its kind in the nation’s Banking industry, it was said to be well attended by the ex-staff of the Bank, both within and outside the country. They may have seen it as an opportunity to meet with each other after years of leaving the employment of the Bank and also to meet with other Colleagues, who are still in the services to rub minds.
The large turnout of the ex-staff of the Bank at the Launching of the Alumni Network in Lagos clearly shows that it was a well conceive idea to still maintain contact with the Bank. They were said to have followed strictly the government policy on the Asian country of China emerged coronavirus, popular, COVID 19, of ‘’wear face mask’’ to show up at the Launching of the epoch-making event. ’’It was a home coming’’, one of the ex staff-remarked.
An insider told The Value News Magazine online that those who could not witness the Launching of the Network in person due to one reason or the other had joined’’ the session virtually’’ as they were able to make useful contribution to the Launching of the Network.
Mosun Yusuf, who is a Matron, and a former staff of the behemoth called UBA plc, which has Tony Elumelu, a well-known African Philanthropist as the its Chairman, was said to been appointed the Chairperson of the occasion. She was said to have played the role very well as she welcome all the participants with open arms.
Beaming with smiles, as she exchanged pleasantries with both the ex- staff and those still in the employment of the Bank who came around to greet her. She was said to have drawn the attention of the participants on why the Launching of the Bank Alumni Network was very important and therefore, the need for all staff , botservice and those who are no longer in the service to embrace it.
She may have won the people’s heart when she shared with thm the team’s expectations for the Network. ‘’What we are witnessing today is a result of enormous collective efforts that came about with the express desire of the ex-staff to network and maintain a Cordial relationship with Colleagues after exit from the Bank’’, she had said.
Describing UBA Alumni Network as an ‘’innovation in the nation’s Banking industry’’, she noted that ‘’it will create a strong bond of human Community especially in the face of the technological developments that is forcing people into some sort of isolation’’.
Hajia Yusuf, who could not hide her feelings had said that ‘’human connectivity is necessary to promote cordial living that will assist the individual to achieve his goal or the group to achieve its Collective goals, which is what the UBA plc Alumni Network ‘’plan to attain’’.
An eyewitness account had said there were goodwill messages at the launching of the ex-staff Alumni Network. Chiugo Ndubuisi, Executive Director, Treasury and International Banking, may h who had represented Uzoka, the GMD, may have set the ball rolling when he ‘’Commended all those who had tirelessly behind the scene ‘’to ensure that the Alumni of the Bank was up and running’’.
An enthusiastic Ndubuisi had said ‘’We are indeed glad at the Launching of this Alumni Network ‘’, stressing that ‘’the Bank will continue to support the Alumni in any way we can’’. He was said to have assured the ex-staff that those of them who are still in the employ of the Bank ‘’will follow through to ensure that things are working well so that we can also join this great Network in future’’.
Ifueko Omogui-Okauru, a former Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Services, FIRS, who gave the keynote Address at the ex-Oan African staff vent had given kudos to the staff and the steering Committee for coming up with such a great initiative of setting up and Alumni Network.
‘’I cannot over emphasise how networking and strong bonds could remain essential for people even after they had left their places of employment’’, she had said . This may have informed why she had joined Ndubisi, the Bank Executive Director , Treasury and International Banking , who had represented the Uzoka, the GMD, to ‘’commend both the ex-staff and the Bank Management for the great feat’’.
Ifueko, who is currently the President of Queen’s College Alumni, had cited examples of how successful her career in in the FIRS, was as a result of support from members of her various alumni groups despite having no prior experience working in a governmental Parastatals.
She had stressed the need for members of the UBA alumni Network ‘’to have a clear objective and look for ways to support each other and the bank’s brand to meet their Common goals’’.
