The emergence of more professionals into the leadership positions of the nation’s bureaucracy has continued to improve and stabilize the functioning of government at the federal and state levels.
That much was said by Nebeolisa Anako, an Engineer and Permanent Secretary, Police Service Commission , PSC, on Thursday, February 27th 2020, at Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, when he received in audience , Chinasaokwu okolie, Chairman and other Executive Members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE Abuja branch.
Anako, who could not hide his feelings stressed the need for Engineers to continuously improve themselves and be ready to work to assist in both technical and administrative situations in their respective Organisations including government establishments and ministries and agencies.The PSC new Permanent Secretary of PSC assured the Abuja branch NSE of his commitment to the ‘’’improvement of the fortunes of the Commission including the welfare of Staff’’.
Appreciative of the Engineers visit to his office, he has promised to always keep his open to them at all times as theCommission will be ready to’’ tap into their wealth of professional experience’’.
In his response,, Okolie, the leader of the NSE delegation said they were at the PSC, to ‘’express their solidarity with one of their own who has climbed to the peak in the public service’’.He noted that it was not easy thing for aprofessionals, particular, Engineers, who deal with tools and equipment, to rise to the enviable position of Permanent Secretary in the Civil Service and prayed that the ‘’Almighty God will give him the grace and enablement to make a success out of the new and challenging national assignment’’. It was a happy meeting as the parties laughed and cracked jokes.
Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC, spokesperson, who was said to have witnessed the the visit of the Abuja Engineers to the permanent Secretary disclosed that it was a source of encouragement to him . Staff who spoke to The Value News described Anako as a workaholic who has put a finesse into the Administrative process of the Commission as he runs an open door policy accommodating all and sundry to listen to both Staff and people’s Complaints. They further described him as a problem solver.
Security watchers believe that he would lighten the workload of the of Musliu Smith, a former Inspector General of Police, IGP, and now Chairman , PSC, as a ‘’Team Player’’ who understands the Civil Service and the Commissions Rules and Regulations and how to apply it for the smooth runningof the PSC.
Many believe that the Controversies that had always trailed police Cadet recruitment in the past would be a thing of the past as Anako will ensure that the rules and guiding police recruitment are strictly followed to get the best hands into the Force.
