Barely two weeks after  Bashir Jamoh, director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, presented material and funds to Lagos state government to support  the fight against  Coronavirus, popular, COVID 19, named after the year of the outbreak in Wuhan Town, Hebei Province of the Asian country of China, the agency COVID 19  Humanitarian Train has landed at Abuja , the Federal Capital Territory, FCT and Enugu, Capital of Anambra state to make another set of donations.

has extended the same gesture to the Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the government of the Federation led Presidential Task Force  on COVID 19.

The agency, according to Philip Kyanet, an Assistant Director and the agency Head of Corporate Communications  had said that the agency had made  material and financial donation to the COVID 19, Presidential Force , PTF, under the Chairmanship of Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the government of the Federation   to  support their effort in the renewed  fight against the deadly disease across the country.

Kaynet disclosed that the Maritime Regulatory agency had donated ambulance vehicles, buses ventilators, oxygen concentrators, Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, Rapid Test Kits, RTK, hand sanitisers and other medical equipment  including  a N30 million donation.

This  is in addition to the release of the agency volunteer personnel to enhance the PTF, logistics, in the movement of equipment  and other  medical  supplies  within the riverine Communities  across the country.

Jamoh had   explained that the agency deployed the fast intervention vessels, ambulances, buses among others to support the efforts by the government at the various levels, Federal and state to solve  a national  medical emergency , insisting that  all hands must be on deck.

Attah: NIMASA Cordinator, Abuja Zonal Office, Handing Over Agency Donations To Mustapha, COVID 19, PTF, Chairman

He  had   said  that  ‘’COVID19, was a challenge that must be overcome in the country’’ commending President Muhammadu Buhari  for the steps taken so far to contain the spread of the disease in the country.  Zalani Musa Attah, Coordinator of the Abuja Zonal office, who was said to have made the NIMASA material and financial donation  to the COVID19 Presidential Task Force on behalf of the Director General disclosed  that they had   to ’’adjust  their priorities to contribute their quota  to the ‘’urgent  need to get   the country out of this national emergency’’.

As a responsible agency, we will continue to support government’s  efforts   across  the board, , stressing that ‘’collectively , we will  fight against this deadly disease with the help of Almighty God’’, he had said.

The agency COVID19 Humanitarian Train was said to have equally landed in        Enugu, Capital of Anambra state, south east Nigeria, where it  presented  ventilators, oxygen concentrators and hand sanitisers,to the state governemnt.Solo Chukwulobelu, a Professor and  the Secretary to the state government  was said to have received the materials on behalf of  ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the state governor.

The presentation of the material and financial support  to the COVID19,PTF, and the  Anambra state government to curb the spread of the disease   were said to have been made at different times.   The donations may have thrilled the officials of the COVID 19 PTF and those of the Anambra state government going by their Statement. that The COVID 19 PTF  and the south east government officials were said to have  showered  praises on Jamoh , the NIMASA boss and his Management Team for the gesture.

Mustapha, the COVID 19 PTF, Chairman, who was full of appreciation to the  NIMASA Authorities  for the gesture, ’’urged  other government agencies , private Organisations  and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the Maritime Regulatory agency and support the government efforts in the fight to curb  the spread  of the pandemic , so that ’’Nigerians will live their normal lives again’’.

He disclosed that the country   is more prepared now  in tackling the disease  than ever before, pleading with Nigerians  to endure  the lock down order in Lagos, Abuja, the Federal Capital territory and Ogun state  as it  was not done to trample  on the Citizens Fundamental Human Rights of Freedom of Movement or Freedom of Religion but to assist the government trace the  infected persons across the country in order to contain the spread of the disease. The COVID 19 PTF, Chairman, has told those that cares to listen  that ‘’in no distant time’’ , the country will return back to normalcy for businesses to resume. Recall that Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director General, Nigerian Center  for Disease Control, NCDC, had said that there suspected 600 carriers of the disease currently being traced  across the country.

Chukwulobelu, the Secretary to the Anambra state government who had received the materials support for the state from NIMASA, thanked Jamoh, the  Director General  and the Management Team for the gesture , promising that  ‘’it will be well utilised’’.

But not many people are surprised at the NIMASA Material support to the Anambra state government to help curb the spread of the disease in the state. This is because of Jamoh, the NIMASA  helmsman earlier  ,  promise  while t making the agency donations to the Lagos state government, described as the epicenter of the disease in Nigeria, that ‘’it will not  be limited to the state alone but will be spread to other states in the six geo-political regions in the country .
